Legal Costs

“Over 30 successful years representing our clients”

We offer a unique personal service. Other firms often use inexperienced and deputy solicitors in road traffic cases.

Legal Consultation: Free

No fees apply at this stage. To obtain our advice on your case, simply phone to arrange a time when we can discuss matters. Alternatively, email us or fill in the online question form. We will explain what the case is about, what the implications are for you and what courses of action you can take. You will then be able to make an informed choice on how to proceed. Many people find that they do not need a lawyer and are simply glad to have matters clarified. Others want ongoing legal representation and are free to engage us if they choose.

Private Clients and Court Representation: Fixed Fee

The cost of defending your road traffic case will vary depending upon the complexity and jurisdiction of the case. We operate throughout the Central Belt of Scotland and further on a case by case basis. Our fee structure is agreed in advance and will take the form of a fixed fee arrangement. From experience we have found this to be the fairest and most widely acceptable arrangement. Charging by the hour can see fees rocket. Such is the legal system now that hours, even days, can be spent waiting in court for a case just to get started. Fixed Fees give certainty. Once we know the detail of our involvement, we work out the fee and we stick to it. However long the case takes, our commitment is to the case, not a timetable.

Insurance Cover for Legal Expenses

You may be covered for our legal fees through your driving insurance. Increasingly insurance companies are offering legal expenses cover for the defence of motoring prosecutions in Scotland and we regularly accept appointment in such cases. Our recognised expertise and proven track record allows us to satisfy Insurers that their clients are in the safest of hands. We meet all reporting and contingency requirements and would be delighted to review your policy terms to assess whether Legal Expenses Cover is applicable.

Legal Aid

We offer legal aid in exceptional circumstances and typically will only accept instruction, on a legal aid basis, for prosecutions under Section 1 of the Road Traffic Act 1988, namely death by dangerous driving prosecutions in Scotland and we regularly accept appointment in such cases. Our recognized expertise and proven track record allows us to satisfy Insurers that their clients are in the safest of hands. We meet all reporting and contingency requirements and would be delighted to review your policy terms to assess whether Legal Expenses Cover is applicable.
